According to the United States Code (item 17, paragraph 507) the deliberate infringement of the copy right is a Federal crime and it is punishable with fine between $10,000 - $50,000 and up to 2 years of imprisonment. Plus financial damages to the victim of the infringement.
The U.S.A., along with other 80 countries (Romania included), have signed the Geneva Convention regarding the copyright. According to it the ensuing trial has to follow the jurisdiction of the country of residence of the victimized part.
